The Creative
Block

This brief was a school assignment to choose, rig and animate a character with basic movements and I chose to create a story out of it.
Crouching on my bed and trying to squeeze my head for any idea, I imagined myself trapped in a box trying to get out and failing. I looked up and decided that’s exactly what I’m going to do for the project.
The goal was to reflect the idea and the feeling of a creative block using colors, animation, tone of voice as well as music.

The character choice was intentionally made, to be a generic character without any specific features or gender to represent the soul of every creative person in a very raw uncategorized way.

The Box

The idea was to create a box that represents the state of mind of having a creative block and being trapped inside it. The animation chosen was that of a person who is struggling throughout, before and after noticing the imaginary box. The struggle of the inability to think as well as the struggle to fight being trapped, fight for the freedom.

The lighting used was two different shades of blue including the background, which reflects a sense of loneliness and sadness that extends deeper than what meets the eye. Hence the shades being light and dark.
