Yin & Yang

Main6_Moment(14).jpg

This project was a university brief to create a Hyper-Ident Personal Video about ourselves.

I chose to create a concept out of it which was yin and yang. Inspired by a conversation I had with a friend as well as a personal fascination as I dived deeper into reading about the concept, this video is meant to reflect the existence of yin and yang inside me, or any other human not just me.

My goal with this brief was to reflect on this idea, how those two energies exist within your soul, sometimes one will be more than the other, conflict. But balance will be achieved as a resolution.

Two Energies

The video reflects the two energies throughout by showing how the background keeps constantly changing from black to white at the beginning of the video, the two different sides by two versions of that same person as we dive into the character's soul.

Outside World

The teal color however represents the outside world, and how it still distracts the awareness of those two energies. The patterns drawn on the character’s face are meant to represent the character’s identity, which is me, and how this character’s identity is being unlocked.

Conflict and Balance

There is a flow between the two energies, whether we see a conflict between them or not. The conflict can be seen by how as we dive deeper into the character’s soul, we see that one side is taking over the whole screen and the other disappears and vice versa, but in the end, they both are balanced, acceptance is achieved.
